Welcome to Garfield Elementary!

Located in the heart of Maywood, Illinois, Garfield Elementary has proudly served the community for decades and is home to approximately 400 Mighty Giants. Our school has a strong tradition of excellence and a commitment to student growth, academically and socially. Garfield is a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), SEL (Social Emotional Learning), and CLR (Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching) school, reflecting our dedication to the whole child and an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Garfield Elementary consists of six grade levels, from kindergarten through fifth grade, supported by a team of highly qualified educators with experience ranging from one to nearly thirty years in the field. In addition, we proudly offer a variety of after-school programs, including IMSA (Illinois Math and Science Academy), WOZ Ed, Best Buddies, Heritage Tutoring, Small World Before and After School Care, and an array of student clubs. Our Student Council plays an active leadership role, encouraging a strong sense of school pride and citizenship among its peers.

Garfield continues to partner with parents, stakeholders, and the broader community as we strive toward our goal of 97% student attendance. With collaboration and commitment, Garfield is genuinely on the move!
