Garfield School of Maywood, IL is a kindergarten through fifth grade elementary school with approximately 460 scholars. The original campus (grades K-8th) was established in 1941 with several renovations and additions throughout its years of existence.
WHO WE ARE
Garfield School consists of six grade levels ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade. These grade levels are led by highly qualified professionals ranging between two to almost thirty years of experience within the educational system. Our dedicated staff is here to support the various learning needs of all students. Our teaching staff works very closely with our support staff to communicate needs, identify supports, and ensure student growth in all areas.
Garfield School is excited about delving into our district’s new curriculum additions Wonders and the LEXIA Online Reading Program for intervention. We will continue to engage students by invoking critical thinking skills within our Math Expression Program. Garfield School has implemented after-school programs such as IMSA (Illinois Math and Science Academy), Girls Scouts, Heritage Afterschool Tutoring, and Small World Learning Before and After School Care. We look forward to building a PTO with at least fifty dedicated parents. Student Ambassadors serving
as student leaders are important role models for our students assisting us with motivating students to achieve a 97% attendance rate at all times. We look forward to partnering with our parents, stakeholders, and the community as a whole to help to keep this goal. Garfield is on the move! “Be ENGAGED AND R.O.A.R!”
